The one that matters
Sharing a car is a small, enclosed, unavoidable kind of company. Someone in a passenger seat cannot walk away, change carriage, or end the call. Almost everything below follows from that.
Be someone people are glad they travelled with
- Turn up when and where you said, and say so early if you cannot.
- Be who your profile says you are — real name, a photo that is recognisably you, and honest details.
- Respect what people ask for: the music, the window, the conversation or the quiet.
- Leave the car as you found it.
Never
- Harass, intimidate, threaten, or stalk anyone — on a trip, in chat, or after one has ended.
- Make unwanted advances, comments about someone’s body, or sexual remarks. A shared journey is not a date and never becomes one by default.
- Discriminate against anyone for their race, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexuality, age, or anything else about who they are.
- Drive dangerously, under the influence, or while too tired to be safe.
- Carry weapons, drugs, or anything else illegal.
- Use LinkRide to advertise, recruit, sell, or run a taxi service.
- Take somebody’s details from a trip and use them for anything other than that trip.
- Impersonate anyone, or share an account with another person.
In chat
Trip chat exists to sort out a pickup. Keep it to that. No abuse, no hate speech, no explicit content, no spam, and nothing that is not yours to send.
If a message crosses a line, report the person who sent it. We read the whole thread it came from to decide what to do.
Reporting and blocking
Open the person’s profile — tap their name on a trip or in chat — and use Report. Pick what happened and add anything you want to; the detail is optional, and a report with none still gets read. We aim to come back within two working days, and the same day for anything about safety.
You can also block them from the same place. Neither of you will be able to join the other’s trips again, and they are not told. Undo it any time in Settings.
We never tell somebody who reported them.
Tell us even if you are not sure it was serious enough. A pattern across several trips is often only visible to us, and one report that felt small can be the one that makes it obvious.
You can also decline any trip, for any reason, without explaining yourself — to anyone, including us.
What we do about it
We review every report. Depending on what we find we may remove content, issue a warning, remove a verification badge, restrict an account to riding only, suspend it, or close it permanently. Anything involving violence, a sexual offence, or danger on the road results in immediate removal, and we will cooperate with the police.
If your account is actioned we will tell you what for, unless telling you would put someone at risk. You can appeal at support@linkride.co.uk and a person will look at it again.
Reporting someone in good faith never counts against you, even if we conclude no rule was broken. Repeatedly reporting people in bad faith does.
